Currently, bicyclists and other “vulnerable roadway users” such as pedestrians and people in wheelchairs have limited legal recourse if they are injured by careless driving in Michigan. In October, the Michigan House Criminal Justice Committee passed bipartisan legislation that would enhance criminal penalties for reckless motorists in such events. The League of Michigan Bicyclists is supporting the legislation as it gets considered in the Michigan House.
